Swami’s IPA was first brewed in 1992 to commemorate one of our favorite local surf breaks nestled below a spiritual enlightenment temple that sits on the cliffs above. This West Coast style IPA features a timeless American hop profile of citrus and pine with a crisp balanced finish. It’s a dream come true to be able to share so many pints over time as we all evolve together. Whatever your form of meditation is, we hope that each and every sip contributes to your own self-realization…Cheers!

Poured into a taster showing lightly filtered neon yellow with a finger of tanned white foam. The nose shows a lot of cannabis with light hints of pineapple and grapefruit. The palate is well carbonated and full bodied. Very cannabis forward showing off bright citrus notes with some lighter hints of tropical fruit. Moderate to slightly strong IPA bitterness at the finish but overall a clean drinking summer IPA.

Popular West Coast IPA with thick, frothy, egg-white, coarse, fairly stable head leaving ’membranous’ lacing on the edge of the glass and warm ’canary yellow’ blonde colour, lightly hazy with bits of yeast floating around everywhere. Dank, very fragrant aroma of lime zest, lemon blossoms, spruce shoots, lush tropical flowers, biscuit, dry cookies, cantaloupe, sweet white wine, hemp, chamomille, dried bell peppers, stewed beef, yellow Zespri kiwi, faint hint of banana. Crisp, fruity onset, a tad more estery than usual for the style with accents of bitter orange, unripe green plum and sweetish banana and granadilla, olive-like umami accent, minerally lining with medium strong carbo, lean and supple body with lightly bready and equally lightly biscuity pale malt sweetishness upon which an increasingly aromatic and increasingly drying hoppiness is built, attacking the back of the mouth with an oily, herbal, leafy bitterness and retronasal spruce and citrus peel aromas, close to stopping any juicy malt sweetness - which is very limited to begin with - to creep through. A bit paler and therefore more dry in terms of maltiness than is custom for the substyle perhaps, but in all respects an accomplished and exemplary American IPA, with a very pleasantly structured hop profile. I’m wondering if the classic association between IPA and pizza in the Anglo-Saxon world has got something to do with this...

Tap @ van Moll during Pizza Port tap take over, medium sample. Clear golden color, short head. Aroma of citrus, grapefruit, bit pine, some cookie malt. Medium bitterness, lots of tropical fruit which makes it a bit sweet almost. Lovely fruity bitterness. Good balance. Lovely beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Swami's IPA on 17 Mar 2018 at 22:14 - Score: 6. Original review text: Jaar oud helaas, dat is soms het nadeel van online bestellen. Vers veel beter

Retronasal also some malts. Flavor is moderate bitter, light earthy & dank, with light malty sweetness. Medium bodied, also going toward full. Lots of hops, dank, weeds, herbal hops in the finish, not too astringent bitter. Not as good as Keep It Dankster, but stil....
