La Moneuse is named for A. J. Moneuse (b. 1768), a famous local bandit and gang leader, and ancestor of the brewers’ family. It is a classic "saison" beer by virtue of its strength and its earthy, aged quality. It has a hardy, semi-dry malt character, a fresh but not overpowering hoppiness, abundant yeasty, fruity flavors and a fairly strong, but pleasant and enticing mustiness.

Draft sampling glass @ Modeste 2012 - first time draft it appears going by the banner - opaque bright orange with a creamy whit head - muted oranges in the nose, belgian yeast, peel, malts, earthly spics, heavy belgian yeast blended with esters flavour, herbs, spices, very interesting with light herbs, reasonably fruity orange peel, lightly earthly, mellow tangerine, fruits, earthly, dough - nice carbonation - good, interesting, different like the other stuff this brewery puts out

75cl bottle @ Cafe Buitenlust shared with Thompson. Hazy lightly murky yellow color, big white head and a little bit of floaties in it. Smell lightly malts, slightly a sour hint, some fruitpeel probably grape-peel. Taste is about the same: malts, fruitpeel, slightly leaves. Quite decent.

Stole a glass of this jawn: Pours an orange colour with a white head. Bottle was a wicked gusher, yeah. Aroma is pretty much straight saison yeast. This is a good thing in my opinion. Taste has some bitterness, especially closer to to the finish. Farmyard funk. Dry finish. Saison through and through. This is not absurdly complex, but it is flavourful and all those flavours are pulled off quite well.

Bottle at Craft Beer Co tasting, originally from Utobeer. Bottle age >5 years. It pours golden, with a decent white head. The nose is sweet honey, pear, red apple, sour green apple and farmyard. The taste is hay, straw, farmyard, pear, red apple, tangerine, orange and light spice, with a dry citric fruit finish. Medium body and lively carbonation. Delicate and tasty.
