Farmstead® Ale with Spring Blossoms Aged in Oak Barrels

Vera Mae was our grandfather’s eldest sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Farmstead® ale is crafted from Vermont organic spelt, American hops, Vermont wildflower honey, dandelion flowers from our fields, our farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Aged in French oak wine barrels and bottled conditioned, the result is an elegant, luminescent representation of spring in Vermont: lightly tart, bright, effervescent and delicate—passing quickly while leaving just the slightest, most pleasing memory of sunshine, warmth and the promise of more.

Vera Mae pre-2016 was aged in stainless and/or puncheon, which changed to wine barrels from 2016 onwards.

Bottle thanks to Tooch4321. Pours cloudy gold with a very large off-white head, creamy and slow to dissipate, leaving nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is peppery, fruity, floral, lemon. Flavor is lightly sweet with honey notes, peppery and fruity. Quite nice. Light body, strong carbonation, quite drinkable. Deserves its exalted status in the world of saisons.

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a huge yellowish head. The aroma as notes of malt, straw, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, hops, and hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Notes from Saturday's tasting. Aroma has light phenolics and esters. The esters were faint notes of pear and citrus. Light floral note present as well. Very delicate. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a small white head that has decent retention. Leaves a light lacing on the glass. Flavor has moderate phenolics with a light hop spicules and floral quality. Faint mineral flavor to the beer but with a soft water character. Light pear, cider and citrus esters. Again, very delicate. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Very soft, similar to a kolsch in the way it hits your palate and its delicateness. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a very nice, soft saison. The thing I found most impressive with this beer is how you could taste the water, but it wasn't hard and harsh like some saisons can be. Delicate aroma and flavor with light floral notes. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle shared by KyotoLefty at Qbrick’s 8th Anniversary party, thanks alot! Wow, just wow. This is one of those genre busting beers, it poured a wonderful straw gold with a wonderful fluffy eggshell head of foam... the aroma was very zesty, reminiscent of white wine. This beer blew us all away, the taste was sweet and tart. Very refreshing, excellent!
