A prize-winning beer that we brew exclusively for De Bierkoning. The fruity, bitter hops and lightly roasted malt complement each other perfectly in this light brown beer. These flavours are accentuated with a little coriander to produce a full aroma of flowers, citrus and a hint of caramel. An irresistible beer that was crowned in the Brussels Beer Challenge with a silver medal in the Herb & Spice category.

Bottle 33cl. @ home.Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, spices, moderate hoppy, grass, moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (300608)

On tap at Café Belgique, Amsterdam.
Poured dark orange/golden colour with medium sized white head and pleasant fruity nose. Yeasty, fruity sweetness, coriander and some berries with notes of spices. Alcohol is light noticeable in the finish. Again nice beer from ’t IJ.

On tap @ Café Belgique. Hazy golden orange, big white head. Smell of coriander, IJ yeast funk, spices. Taste is sublime, but rather sharp. Some fruity sweetness first, but then really dry and bitter, with a very bitter aftertaste. A lot of citrus/grapefruit in there too. Bottle @ Café Gollem: Tastes pretty much the same, but with a tad less bitterness and more yeasty funkiness. mIJ favourite!

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Powerfull heavy hoppy and yeasty aroma. Strange heavy bitter soapy and acetic flavor. Average finish. Oily palate. I really dont like t IJ yeast, sorry.

(3/13/08) Draught at Arendsnest in Amsterdam. Hazy amber color with a long-lasting white head. Aroma has some malt, some caramel, light spiciness, fruits, and some hops. Sweetish flavor, a bit malty at first with a bit of caramel finishes with nice hoppy bitterness with hints of citrus. Medium body and a good rounded mouthfeel. Very good. 7/4/7/4/25=3.7

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a huge white head. Spiced and herbal aroma, not good and uninviting. Flavour is nice malty with a nice sweetness and spice mix. Has a slight soapy and leathery feel. Ends with a mild spice note. Terrible aroma but nice flavour.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy, amber golden with a tall, dense, handsome head with excellent retention. Spicy aroma with some yeast. Medium body with a light malt base. Dry as a bone with the same astringent, leathery bitterness as found in Orval - although not as refined. But quite interesting. 211007

(Bottle, Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Amber colour, slightly hazy, with firm huge off-white head. Fruity, spicy nose with notes of orange peel and clove. Fruity, spicy taste with clove, cardamom, dark citrus, orange peel and grapefruit. Heavy citrussy bitterness in the finish with notes of bitter almond. Rather sweet, full body. Great beer with a powerful, hoppy and spicy character.

Cloudy amber colour, big fluffy stable head. Many spices and herbs in the aroma, cloves, coriander, citrus. Flavour is bitter, malty, with a lot of spices and herbs as well. Finishes bitter. Had to get used to the aroma and taste, but once it settled, I can appreciate this one.

Bottle from the Cracked Kettle, Amsterdam. Cloudy orange and some sediment. Huge, long-lasting head. Dandelions in the aroma and other lighter spices. Sour, herbal flavor. Earthy. I thought it was a saison. However it is classified, I like it.
