Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee Chocolate Stout
CBS was born when we stumbled upon some bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. We opted to put the same base beer as KBS, an imperialized version of Breakfast Stout, in the maple barrels and, after one taste, we knew we had something special. Rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate meld together in what can only be described as a transcendental drinking experience.

$6.10 bottle, WW. Pours black, a little thick, with a small brown head. Chocolate, graham cracker, maple syrup, coffee, barrel nose. Flavor is bourbon, chocolate, maple syrup, earth, coffee, barrel.

Thuis uit een flesje. Zwart van kleur, eerst mooi dik schuim, maar zakt helaas in. Aroma zacht door chocoladegeur, maar ook wat pittiger door een whiskey-vleug. Smaak zacht, gezien de 11,6%. Ook weer pure chocolade, maar erg goed: niet te bitter en niet te zoet. Langzaam van nippen, topbier.

USA/ Canada, some NHL, and CBS. The Bourbon and maple are there, unlike the aged version, as it should. Top.

Bottle. Pours pitch black with a thick dark brown head. Aromas of sweet chocolate, light coffee, cocoa nibs, subtle maple, cream, light malty. Taste is sweet, vanilla, light maple, coffee, light acidity, dark dry chocolate, roasty finish. Better from the bottle than on tap!

Bottle from Kroger. Pours a pitch black with a finger of brown foam that lingers, then settles. Big roasted cofee forward nose with cacao nib and bourbon with maple syrup as it warms. Some vanilla and more maple syrup on the palate but the coffee notes and cacao nib stand out in this year's batch so far. Smooth and easy to drink, but not overly cloying. Balanced with good roasty notes throughout. Booze hidden fairly well. Maple and coffee stand out as it warms.

From a bottle Deep black pour, small dark tan head. Big chocolate maple and boozy aromas and flavors. Rich smooth and delicious.
