Maple Syrup Bourbon Barrel-Aged Coffee Chocolate Stout
CBS was born when we stumbled upon some bourbon barrels that had previously housed maple syrup. We opted to put the same base beer as KBS, an imperialized version of Breakfast Stout, in the maple barrels and, after one taste, we knew we had something special. Rich maple syrup, roasted coffee and velvety chocolate meld together in what can only be described as a transcendental drinking experience.

wonderful complex beer, so much going on, so much to think about. It tastes boozy no doubt, but not to a detriment. The maple is just perfectly balanced in there, everything recipe-wise is spot on. Online saveaur bier (3.9 sept 2019 I agree with ^ . Beer temple Amsterdam

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm, 24 Feb 2019) Black colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, oak wood, dark chocolate, vanilla and maple syrup. Malty, roasted taste with dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, oak wood, marshmallows and a generous roasty bitterness in a slightly vinous finish. Full body, with thick and velvety mouthfeel. Quite sweet. Really tasty and full flavoured, fairly well balanced for its strength. Lovely beer! (7/4/9/5/17=4.2) Rerate: (Bottle, 24 March 2024) Black colour with foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, espresso, oak wood, bourbon, butterscotch, vanilla and maple syrup. Malty, roasted, sweet taste with notes of chocolate, coffee, black bread, oak wood, bourbon, tobacco, vanilla, plums, maple syrup and a generous coffee bitterness in the finish. Full body, sweet. Rich, powerful and really tasty. Grear beer!

2018 bottle, 11,6%. Deep dark brown color. Coffee, chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with chocolate, soft roast and vanilla. The alcohol is exceptionally well hidden. Raisin. I can’t really taste the bourbon, but this is a great beer. Low on carbon.

750ml bottle shared at home. Thick inky black pour, thin brown head. Aroma is dark chocolate, freshly brewed coffee, figs, cherries, buttery caramel. Flavour is all of that with loads of maple syrup...could go on and on. Lovely and complex aromas and flavours, glad to share though.

1/6/2019. Bottle from Nisse666, shared at the Krsko GP beer share. Pours almost black with a small foamy tan coloured head. Aroma of milk chocolate, brown sugar, syrup, coffee, chocolate, bourbon, oak and nut. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Excellent.

355ml bottle (bottled 24/09/2018, 11,6%) from Prik&Tik Kampenhout. F: big, dark tanned, average retention. C: black, opaque. A: rich chocolate and roasted tones, bit vinous, woody, nutty, vanilla, bit coffee, dried figs. T: rich chocolate, sweet coffee, dark fruits, warming alcohol, bit vinous, woody, vanilla, bit coconut, mellow fruity, complex harmonic taste, decent bitterness, lower carbonation, nice really delicious evening sipper yet for breakfast I not sure about, fully enjoyed.
