The final result pours pitch black to the naked eye but reveals a slight reddish hue once held up to a light. The large malt backbone lends the first sips a pleasant sweetness and a smooth balanced aftertaste with hints of raisins and currants present from the use of a Belgian yeast.

Bottle. Striking label - very good indeed. Very dark brown with a coat of light tan head. 3 Fudgy aroma with mocha, pine, light spice, candied plums, Scotch. A bit stout meets barley wine. 7. Full bodied but not sticky, moderate to low carbonation. Caramel, plums and some higher fruity notes that you want to say are like totally yam and/or taro but aren’t. Vanilla. The stout’s there but playing second fiddle to the Whisky and paler malts. A fair bit of slightly lighter RamJet. Not very sweet, never threatens to be lush even before a tidy finish. Lowish bitterness nonetheless registers. Alcohol is well integrated. A lot of fun.
