Bottle, 2010-07-23, Göteborg AR: a bit danish, roasted malt and sugar (brown sugar) AP: Soot blck body, justa rim of beige head even dow I tried to poure it from a high level F: like thick syrup in texture, sweet and sour flavor, rosted malt, great bitterness and to much of that sourness in the finish, perhaps some read berries and defintly some smokiness

Black with a tiny beige head. Sweet aroma with smoke, burned malt, dark chocolate, ashes and hints of anise. Flavour had burned malt, smoke, anise, dark chocolate and ashes. Finished smoked and fairly dry. Not bad.

Bottled. A pitch black beer with no head. The aroma has notes roasted malt, rye, and some soy sauce. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of burnt malt, ash, roasted malt, alcohol, and soy sauce, leading to a dry alcoholic and roasted finish. Thanks yespr for sharing. The body is thick.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a murky and opaque dark brown with a tiny beige head. Aroma has hard roasted malt and tar. Solid body, rather low in carbonation, hard roasted malt, smoke and tar. Quite some alcohol in the finish and lots of hard roasted malt. A rather rough Imperial Stout. 150610

37.5 cL bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is smoked and dark roasted malt. Dark malty, liqourice and mild smoked flavoured. Dark malty flavoured. Mild acidic hard roasted note. Ends with a lasting liqourice and dark malty note into the far finish.

Draught @ Festival der Bierkulturen, Braustelle, Christianstr. 2, Cologne, Germany.Clear dark brown black color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, burnt, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark dark chocolate, roasted, soy sauce notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20100515]

The bottle looks great nice name with a nice story behind it. In the glass deep black, a bit oily, not very zippy, very small head. Malty aroma, a bit soapy-alcoholic, also some smoke. Starts not too strong, fine malty, chocolate notes and some liquorice. Finish gets a bit sweeter, still deep-malty, more and more sticky-oily. Very well balanced. Gets better with every sip. A very good beer! Hope there will be more such interesting Freigeist beers!

Das ist es also, das erste deutsche Imperial Stout. Gebraut mit Roggen. Im Geruch spürt man alkoholisch angehauchte Schokoladennoten, dunkles Röstmalz, wenig Traube. Bereits im Antrunk ist das Bier tiefgründig malzig, man schmeckt Bitterschokolade, nussige Noten. Die Röstnoten sind angenehm aber weniger stark als erwartet, die Süße stimmig, sie dringt aber meist nicht in den Vordergrund. Vergleichsweise mild gleitet das Bier aus, fast schon überraschend mild. Hier dann doch etwas alkohlisch, nicht aber störend, dafür wärmend. Langer Biterschokoladenabgang.
