330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma smells like smoky Islay whiskey, some dry roast, and smoky campfire notes. Flavour is huge on the Islay whiskey, with loads of smoky campfire notes and lovely Islay barrels. Dominated by the barrels, but in the best way possible. Really lovely.

Black pour, little head that dissipates quickly. Dark cherry smell, almonds, peat. Leather and tobacco taste, dark cherries, bitter and a bit sour, probably from the barrel. Soft mouthfeel, medium to full body. Aftertaste is slightly spicy from the alcohol.

Medium, dark beige-brown head over black beer. Coffee, peat, peated whisky, tarr, phenols, earthy - but everything rather brusque. Sharp, burning and phenolic, tarred and burnt flavours. Somewhere, somehow mint. Unrefined. Very well-bodied, viscous-slick, fiery alcoholburn. The right flavours are all there, but, as said, quite unrefined. Mind you, I’d never heard about this Mull whisky before.

Bottle shared during Scopey’s 5K tasting - Croydon, London. Many thanks to Josh! Pours deep brown with a tight, beige cream head. Heavy peat aroma, with little else. Medium to big sweet flavor with more dominant peat character, moderate chocolate, alcohol, burnt wood. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish with further hefty peat, dark sugars, dried dark fruits, cocoa. Good stuff overall, but you would need to enjoy peat.

330 ml. bottle BBF 03/2016. Pours pitch-black with a hue of extremely dark brown, head is super creamy whipped mocha, gorgeous. Nose is very heavy on the whiskey, the first thing that hits your nose is just pure whiskey basically, light iodine, peat and in the back you get light licorice, molasses & roast. It should be bad & unbalanced but the whiskey is actually quite nice and of good quality, the base doesn’t feel watery or anything, oddly I find it quite enjoyable. Taste is big warming great quality whiskey mixed with very creamy mocha, chocolate mousse, chocolate milkshake, light sweetish roast, lightly bitter molasses & burned herbs with light peat in the back, faint burned tires (peat-style), warming, light iodine, faintly salty almost. Super creamy body. The peat is low at first but really starts building up the more you drink of it. Very intense but in a fascinating & good way. This is almost fine whiskey with a hugely creamy chocolate mousse & milkshake body. The whiskey is very big on this one in a good way. The alcohol feel on this one is big but it just reminds you of a fine whiskey. It is an interesting beer, a wonderful exercise in excess & non-balance but in a way it is balanced, the characters do complement each other and add other elements, the whiskey gives it most of the taste & the beer gives it a substantial and creamy quality. This is the 5th beer that I try from this series & it is very easy the one that impressed me the most. Fascinating beer, Het Uiltje makes beers with very extreme and confronting flavours but they do them in a very unique and approachable (very often successful fashion). Let us hope that they continue doing that & not turn into a caricature because they are walking a very fine line here. This one is a very slow sipper, intense to say the least.

Bottle at home, 31st August 15. Pours black with a small neat head. Aroma is peat forward, some smoke, liquor. Taste is rich, peat, smoke, slight liquorice. Any sweetness is countered by the grata barrel ageing. Could be too whiskey forward for some, but this lovely.
