Bottle, thanks to Josh. It pours cloudy deep brown within bubbly tan head. The nose is earthy, wood, light peat, toast, dark chocolate, medicinal and faint smoke. The taste is bitter-sweet, chocolate, alcohol, earth, cocoa, wood, oily, peat and faint smoke with a dry finish. Well rounde, quaffable. Nice balanced.

Bottle shared by Dutchdrebus @ weekly tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized light brown head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is malts, lightly roasted, a sweetish alcoholic hint. Taste malts, a hint of peat here as well, lightly roasty, some bitter. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.

Bottle at the De Molen Second Tuesday Tasting, January 2014. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy light tan head. The aroma is huge medicinal whisky alcohol. The flavour is medium to strong bitter with a rich oily smoky alcoholic bitter liqourice palate. Medium to full bodied with flat carbonation. The alcohol totally consumes this beer. The barrel ageing is supposed to compliment a beer but this is just a little too much for me.

Bottle shared at the De Molen First Tuesday tasting. Pours near black with a small beige head. Aroma is overpowering whiskey. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter. The whiskey is still overpowering in the palate but some of the stout comes out underneath. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Too much barrel.

Black with nice light brown head. Earthy, peat, ash, wood, roasted malts, coffee. Some fruity notes, tart red berries and green apple. Some honey and spices too after it’s warmed slightly. Taste is well balanced. Starts almost salty because of the peat, then a light sweet kick and finishes with a fruity tartness. Big bitter aftertaste. Medium mouth and average carbonation. This is a bit all over the place, but very enjoyable.

Strong whiskey aroma, black beer with small crème head. Intense and deep taste of coffee, cacao and some dark fruit I think. Warm aftertaste.
