A hoppy ruby red ale at heart, this uplifting beer raises a classic British style to new heights. Citrus and floral notes from the aromatic New World hops perform a spectacular balancing act against the rich and robust smooth caramel and bready sweetness thanks to the traditional English malts, before a long moreish crisp citrus finish leaves you gasping for more.

Bottle from The Beerhive. Dark brown body with a thick beige head that holds well. Excellent lacing. Aroma of lychee, pine and milk chocolate - reminiscent of BrewDogโs 5am Saint (with a bit more yeast character). Flavour of wood, apple, soap, milk chocolate, nuts and copper. Medium body with an oily texture, Soft carbonation. An unusual, tasty beer. Not too dissimilar to BrewDogโs 5am Saint, but not quite as hoppy or flavoursome.

Bottled 330ml ABM. Deep red-ruby color, good beige head, lace. Hayish hoppy with nutty maltyness in the nose. Medium-bodied. Nutty, slighlty sweetie, then nice salty hoppyness in the finish and aftertaste. Tasty ESB.

Bottle @ Friends of Ham, Leeds. Another beautifully complex Wild Beer with chestnuts and autumn leaves jumbling about on the tongue with a little chipped bark from a roaring log fire. Then.. berries, some colourful caramel and a rosy red bitterness bringing things to an end.

[10/3/13] Draught at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell in London. Deep red color. Aroma of acetone, malt and some fruitiness. Sweetish malty flavor with caramel, nuts, a bit of acetone, a bit of acidity and hoppy bitterness in the finish. Medium-bodied, very fizzy mouthfeel. Quite poor.

330ml bottle. Clear, ruby red glowing dark amber or rather brown colour with huge, frothy to macropore, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-white head. Herbal and floral hop aroma reminds me somehow of the white mould found on salami, some yeast, malty background. Taste is dry hoppy, herbal, slightly yeasty, minimally chalky, a touch of cardboard, very cautious hints of malt and red berries; lively - too lively - carbonation. Not really successful.
