Stone Imperial Russian Stout is so thick, rich and, well, sinful, you might worry that you'll be doomed to the fiery pits just for thinking about a sip. Rest assured, however, that even though this seemingly pernicious brew is indeed as black as sin, we guarantee that no actual sin was committed in making it...you'll have to add that on your own. This massive and intensely aromatic beer abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness, and its heavy palate is nothing to be trifled with.
We haven’t changed this recipe much from the original version that Stone President & co-founder Steve Wagner created in 2000. It’s a fantastic beer, and we love brewing it every year!

Can from Beer Republic. As Stone Imperial Stout. Firm roast with chocolate, some coffee, dark roasted malt. Nicely bitter, moderate sweet, almost a full body. Long roasty bitter finish, classic RIS, very nice.

Can from LCB. Pours a jet black, with nice tanned head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some liquorice. Taste is roasty with a creaminess, even a hint of coconut, along with coffee, chocolate, liquorice and blackcurrant. Mid to full bodied. Excellent.

6/4/2024. Can from Beautiful Beers, Bury St Edmunds. As Stone Imperial Stout. 2022. Pours jet black with a tan coloured head. Aroma is dark chocolate, nutty, dried fruits, liquorice, coffee, roasted malt. Moderate sweetness, medium to heavy roasted bitterness. Full bodied, smooth, average to soft carbonation. Enjoyed this, though I do recall having this served as a big bottle in my pre-rating days and recall that being more of a wow.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark, practically black, with light brown foam, fine and stable. Aroma is intense, perceivable from afar, nutty, with some vanilla, dark chocolate, not so much coffee. Body is average, though nicely smooth and a little oily, with soft carbonation. Taste is intense as well, with medium sweetness and some good burnt bitterness. Final is a little chewy and bitter and spicy.

Pours a pitch black body and a dense brown head with some patches retention. Aroma's: heavy roast, umami, some red fruit. Retronasal it's roasted, sweetish, red fruit. Flavour: (above) moderate chocolatey sweet, roasty bitterish, light red fruity sourness. Above medium bodied. Firm roast and bitterness in the finish. Awesome stuff.

Svart med lys brunt skum. Lukter lakris, mørk sjokolade og noe kaffe. Fyldig. Maltig, bittersalt. Smaker salt lakris mot salmiakklakris, noe mørk sjokolade og kaffe. Lang.
