Stone Imperial Russian Stout is so thick, rich and, well, sinful, you might worry that you'll be doomed to the fiery pits just for thinking about a sip. Rest assured, however, that even though this seemingly pernicious brew is indeed as black as sin, we guarantee that no actual sin was committed in making it...you'll have to add that on your own. This massive and intensely aromatic beer abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness, and its heavy palate is nothing to be trifled with.
We haven’t changed this recipe much from the original version that Stone President & co-founder Steve Wagner created in 2000. It’s a fantastic beer, and we love brewing it every year!

This is a really nice Imperial stout but for me it fails to impress. A classic interpretation of a generic impy, this is really nice, but it's nothing that stands out. Nice hints of licorice, dark malts and dark berries. A good Imperial stout for sure, but way overrated.

Bottle, 0.65l. Black pour, half finger frothy brown head, medium retention. Broken lacing on the glass. Malty nose, caramel and toffee, charred, touch of plum and raisins. Full body, soft to medium carbonation. Thick and creamy texture, chewy mouthfeel. Charred, roasty bittersweet taste. Aroma of caramel and toffee, plum, raisins. Mild latte and vanilla notes. Sugar, moderately sticky. Long finish, dry, mildly bitter with subtle liquory notes. Pretty good RIS. Full bodied, tasty and fairly complex. Nice one.

Vintage 2016. Ponizej moich oczekiwan.

Bottle, 0.65l. Aroma of roasted malt, dried fruit, wood and sherry. Pitch black color with medium creamy light brown head and nice lacing. Taste starts with sweet and rich roasted malt and chocolate, follows by licorice, mouthfeel is spicy and warming alcoholic, while finish is medium grassy bitter. Full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Getting imperially stoned with it...

Many thanks to Werckmeister for organising this bottle, 2016 release. Great deep roasted nose. Fresh, deep roasted. Viscous, deep, roast. Dark chocolate, coffee, hints of thick and rich malty sweetness. Long deep roasted aftertaste, burned caramel, round and deep. The ABV is not tasteable. Great.
