Stone Imperial Russian Stout is so thick, rich and, well, sinful, you might worry that you'll be doomed to the fiery pits just for thinking about a sip. Rest assured, however, that even though this seemingly pernicious brew is indeed as black as sin, we guarantee that no actual sin was committed in making it...you'll have to add that on your own. This massive and intensely aromatic beer abounds with notes of chocolate, coffee, black currants, anise and roastiness, and its heavy palate is nothing to be trifled with.
We haven’t changed this recipe much from the original version that Stone President & co-founder Steve Wagner created in 2000. It’s a fantastic beer, and we love brewing it every year!

Super surprised, rather drink this than a fresh stone beer any day, very little oxidation on the nose, mad classic RIS flavors, still has a great mouthfeel and carb. Gnarly. Thanks Giancarlo C. !

Bottle from martinboer, spring 2008 release. Almost black and opague. Dark chocolate, coffee and roast in the aroma. Roast flavor, malty sweet, with dark chocolate, espresso, raisin. Just as vinous as a RIS can get. Warming alcohol, partly hidden. Very well balanced, maybe needs a bit more time to fully develop. Thanks, Martin, for this rare treat!

(On tap) Black with tiniest tan head. Aroma of music s, coffee, smoke. Full bodied, sticky with fine carbonation. Awesome taste - rich and complex. There’s plenty of sweetness, coffee, chocolate, there’s some raisins and some hints of booze. Really good.

Shooting for work but also tasting the beer obviously. On nitro this is a delicious creamy, heavy roasty RIS.
