St. Bernardus Abt 12 is widely regarded as one of the best beers in the world. It is therefore no surprise that it is our brewery’s flagship beer, ranked at the very top of the St. Bernardus beer hierarchy. It is brewed in the classic quadrupel style and adheres to the original 1946 recipe. This is a dark beer with a robust head that is ivory in colour. EBC 60.

Eingetrübte rötlich bräunliche Farbe mit weißer Schaumkrone. Kräftig malziger, röstmalziger Geruch. Geschmacklich malzig, röstmalzig, fruchtig mir Karamell und Dörrpflaume. Hohe Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Aus der 0,75er Flasche im 2015-06 getrunken. Ein wunderbarer dunkler Belgier mit kräftigen malzigen Körper und sehr gut ausbalacierter feinen Süße. 9/4/9/5/19 Aus der 0,33er Flasche (bbe 12.03.2026) im 2023-04 getrunken. Dieses Abt 12 kommt neben seinem dominieren Malzaroma mit weniger Süße daher. Überrascht hat mich hier das es im Abgang trocken bis adstringierend wirkt also ob es in einen Faß zu lange Kontakt mit dem Holz hatte. Es ist leider nicht das beste Abt 12 war ich bislang hatte. Aus der 0,75er Flasche vor paar Jahren war dieses weitaus ausgewogener. 9/4/7/4/15
