Bottle. Cherry and caramel malt aroma. Brown amber color with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt with light hops finish. Much nicer body than you usually get with a Vienna.

This beer came to me in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a bronze-chestnut color with a small khaki head. The aroma was moderately fruity and floral hops with an underlying bitterness. The flavor was sweet nutty caramel and a mix of fruity and floral hops. There was a longish fruity and nutty finish. A good session ale in my book.

Pour is a amber with a fluffy white head. Aroma is a pretty decent amount of sweet and toasted malts. Flavor is caramel with a fresh hop backbone. A decent example of the style and a pretty good beer, especially for this brewer.

bottle - Pours amber with a one finger head. It smells mildly hoppy along with the expected malts. This tastes well balanced with a nice hoppy bite going well with the caramel malts. This is an enjoyable session brew.

Draft pint in West Allis, WI. Forgot I’d had this one before, but glad to get a taste of a fresh pint. I still sometimes think this may have had some "steinbier" preparation, but no. Just a nice malty dark lager with notes of Irish red.
Bottled during Feb. 06. Rated 12/23/06. This has held up a little better than other old Lakefront beers I found in their variety pack. Pours a caramelly brown, little head but lots of fizziness. Smell brings in a nice amber malt profile with some German hoppiness. Listed abv is a tad higher than their other bottles, and may have helped keep it a little longer. This does have a nice sticky amber malt taste with a good bitter balance. It is starting to turn a bit papery, and the soda pop style carbonation doesn’t suit the taste at all. But I’ll just paste this in my album for now and hope to run across a fresher beer later.

Relatively clear amber-copper body, thick puffy off-white head. Cerealy, bready aroma, grassy hops. Toasty, cerealy, grassy body with light sweetness that opens up after a few sips. Nothing remarkable.

(Bottle 35,5 cl) Pours a hazy amber with a creamy, off-white head. Aroma of caramel and aroma hops. Full, sweet body with a shipload of caramel and some nice, citrusy hops without being particularly bitter. Lovely. 170406

An unclear orange beer with no head. The aroma is quite light, but what is there is sweet and acidic, with light notes of caramel. The flavor is also a combination of sweetness and light acidity, combined with notes of hops. Nothing special.

This brewery continues to impress me. Several of their beers seem to rely on sweetness through heavy malt, and it works well for them. This beer is all about malt; it is there in the aroma and very much so in the flavor. Sweet, and the "subtle toasted flavor" is clearly present but not dominant. A great Vienna, and there are not many of those.
