Bottle. Poured a pale amber with an off-white head. Aroma was light with floral and citrus hops and perhaps a touch of toffee. Flavor had earthy notes as well as some floral and citrus hops.

Chevy Chase Liquors and Spirits, DC 500ml can ($3): Pours an amber color with a creamy head. Aroma is fruity, with just a tinge of hops, and a bunch of malts. This beer is definitely on the maltier side of things. It has a fuller mouth feel than some other ESBs, I’ve had. Not too much in the way of bitterness, but a little bit of it is there. For the most part, this was a pretty well-balanced beer, but, as virtually every other rater has noted: this is nothing special.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a soft, off-white head. Fruit and malt aroma with some sugars and apple. Sweet flavor, with a crisp and sugary malt character that reminds me of a lager. Has some mild bitterness, lightly earthy. Medium in body with average to fizzy carbonation. Finishes sweet, semi-dry with lingering sugars and faint hops. Not bad. (3.5)

Can at home in London. Why did I buy this? I’ve had it already...anyway. It’s really not a terrible beer. Clear gold, fine white froth. Lightly toasted bready malt character, mellow caramel, some decent leafy bitterness. Light bodied with average carbonation. Modestly sweet finish, a bit more doughy malt, light leaves. Honestly, this stuff is fine. (3.5)

Pours a clear amber-orange colour with an off-white head that starts off creamy, but becomes foamy. Decent lacing appears all-around and carbonation is steady with bubbles of all sizes. A different thing happens with this one, as bubbles form on the side of the glass, all over. And they just stay there, disappearing very slowly, one by one. A big caramel smell is present at first. After breathing a bit, the sweet aroma fades away to show a rusty nose and some hoppiness. Mild notes of flowers and nuts too. Medium-thin bodied with a smooth mouthfeel, almost watery, but not quite. Taste of caramel and hop, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. A very easy drinking ESB.
