In 1842, our first Brewmaster Josef Groll brewed a beer unlike any other. His crisp, refreshing golden lager was made with local ingredients: sweet Moravian barley, delicately bitter Saaz hops, soft Pilsen water, and bottom-fermenting H-strain yeast. Groll named this special beer after the city where he brewed it, Pilsen, where we still brew the same beer today. Over the last 178 years, pilsner-style lager has become the world’s most popular beer, with seven out of 10 beers in the world imitating Groll’s innovation. There are many pilsner-style beers out there, but only one original.

Still the best Boh Pils I've ever tasted. Often skunked or stale, it's worth seeking out a good fresh, unopened case, or better yet on tap. I attribute all poor ratings for this beer on the high frequency that it is found in poor condition. A goal is to consistently homebrew a clone. The other beer to have when you're not having an IPA.

Bottle 0,33ltr: At last drunk this "original Pilsener" again, now i can rated it. Golden coloured brew with an slightly grassy taste, and a good bitter finish.

golden with large white fluffy head A - bread, biscuit, honey, herbal F - grassy, hay, bread, slight honey aftertaste quite smooth mouthfeel for a lager, good level of bitterness I'm not a lager drinker, I find most lagers dull and too crisp for my liking. But this lives up to the hype, I'd even be happy to have more than one.

Light malty aroma. Golden color, abundant foam. Light malty sweet, bitter finish. Nice pilsner.

On tap at Tap and Can, Shrewsbury – but I have had this many a time before (usually in bottles though). Pours a slightly greenish yellow with a small almost white head and good lacing. There’s continental hops and grains in the aroma. I the mouth it fluctuates between slightly sweet and slightly bitter. Continental hops again with hints of malts and spices leafing to a dry and bitter finish. Not the outstanding beer it once was, but still very nice.
