In 1842, our first Brewmaster Josef Groll brewed a beer unlike any other. His crisp, refreshing golden lager was made with local ingredients: sweet Moravian barley, delicately bitter Saaz hops, soft Pilsen water, and bottom-fermenting H-strain yeast. Groll named this special beer after the city where he brewed it, Pilsen, where we still brew the same beer today. Over the last 178 years, pilsner-style lager has become the world’s most popular beer, with seven out of 10 beers in the world imitating Groll’s innovation. There are many pilsner-style beers out there, but only one original.

Taste is slightly dry floral, leafs, hay, minerals, bark, weeds, grain, grass, flowers, soil. Medium to longlasting bitterness, slightly dry floral mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle in garden with BBQ, first of the year. 22nd April 19. Pours golden and clear, nice head. Aroma is hay and straw, yeast. Taste is clean, yeast, light bitter, citrus, grainy, pretty tasty. Also had this on draft in Vienna

Classic case of the original is not the best. Lots of pennies died to make this.
20220705 update + Annie photo, not as offensive as that first time but I'm finding that expired pilsners are common from total wine! It's a bit extra malty on the finish.

lattina 50 cl, schiuma bianca fine media persistenza, colore oro limpido, al naso lupplo (Saaz) cereali e miele, in bocca è bella moltosa miele cereali, corpo leggero, carbonazione moderata, attacco dolce con amaro moderato. Cosa dire, molto buona, una Pilsner di riferimento. 30.04.19

Tight white fluffy head stayed on a highly effervescent, translucent dark golden body. Clean floral aroma with some hints of berry. Medium bodied, soft & cloying over the tongue with a slightly tingly back. Bitter hops, malt, berry & earthy tastes.

Smell - weak, maybe some hops. Foam - quite large, white, to creamy side, thin, but watery, large in mouth , halfway soft, some butter notes at upper part of tongue. Appearance- clear, light, carbonated yellow amber. Taste - bitter, bitter aftertaste, some acidic feel, citrus a bit. Not my type, but not awful.
