In 1842, our first Brewmaster Josef Groll brewed a beer unlike any other. His crisp, refreshing golden lager was made with local ingredients: sweet Moravian barley, delicately bitter Saaz hops, soft Pilsen water, and bottom-fermenting H-strain yeast. Groll named this special beer after the city where he brewed it, Pilsen, where we still brew the same beer today. Over the last 178 years, pilsner-style lager has become the world’s most popular beer, with seven out of 10 beers in the world imitating Groll’s innovation. There are many pilsner-style beers out there, but only one original.

Drinking a pint a U Pinkasu. A different beer than out of the bottle in the US for sure! What a beautiful pour with a massive, Everest-like head that is pristine white with slight patterns. Color is golden and crystal clear. Spice and a bit of pepper on the aroma. Flavor is spicy hops and finishes quickly and with slight bittering.

Malty and hoppy aroma and taste with some hay. It starts with some malty, almost buttery sweetness on the tongue, immediately followed by a hoppy, but soft bitterness. Long hopbitter finish. Good pilsener, but doesn't live up completely to its reputation.

Optisch sattes Gold, in der Nase hopfig, im Trunk ebenso, malzig, recht bekömmlich. Für ein großes Bier echt okay.
