Und besonders verführerisch auch als Digestif. Oder zu Crepes, dunklen Schokoladen, Tiramisu und vollreifem Parmesan.
Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

330ml Bottle - Dark brown with amber tinges. Raisins, nutmeg, walnuts and banana in the aroma. Raisins, blackcurrant, cherries, banana and walnuts all feature in the fairly rich and moderately sweet taste. Very easy to drink for being 12%.

330 ml bottle. Mahogany brown color with a deep reddish hue. Smal creamy beige head. Rich sweet malt aroma. Intense bittersweet toasted malt flavor hints at dark fruit and burnt sugar. Rich, malty and complex. Warming and inviting, with clove-like notes. Quite delicious.

From a 33 cl bottle. Pours a clear amber with an ecru head. Aromas of caramel, toffee and candi sugar. Heavy sweet flavor with a smooth, warming finish.

0,33 l bottle. Pours hazy copper brown with small light tan lasting head. Plenty of yeast floating around. Aroma is full of prunes, ripe bananas, raisins, dried figs, malt, some caramel, chocolate, yeast, light smoky aroma and some alcohol. Flavor is largely similar, but also full of cherries and wild berries. Taste is medium to heavy sweet, light to medium bitter, slightly sour. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is above average. Aftertaste is huge and long, starts with full of cherries then turns to mild spicy bitterness and leaves pleasant mild fusel alcohol warming feeling on your tongue. Once really warm it becomes too hot and unpleasant.

Flesje gedeeld met Bart. Donker bruin, enigszins troebel bier met stevig beige schuim. Geur en smaak van koffie en karamel. Nasmaak is spicy.

33cl bottle from ABeerVinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark, plum color, with limited whitish foam. Aroma is intense of cherries under spirit, prune, malty and rather alcoholic. Body is dense, with intense carbonation, and quite some stickiness. Taste is sweet at first, with bitterness and a hint of sour coming up in the mouth. All these feelings continue long in the final.

17.08.2017/03.09.2017 -- 0.33l bottle from rewe in lörrach. pours a cloudy dark dates/chestnut with a medium off’white head. mild aroma of raisins, dried prunes, figs, not much alcohol in the nose. flavour of cherries, wild berries, vanilla, coffee, alcohol-soaked fruit cake, bourbon. alcohol is definitely present but not overwhelming considering the abv. 23.06.2018 -- a bottle from rewe in lörrach again, nice, fruity and boozy. should compare it to regular aventinus someday. 22.09.2018 -- 0.33l bottle from rewe in freiburg, 1.99€, bb 27.03.2018+5j. fizzy carbonation. nice nevertheless.

AROMA: Scent of smoked gouda, caramel, and alcohol.
APPEARANCE: Pours an opaque, dark brown with a tan head that dissipates quickly.
TASTE: Very sweet with undertones of salt. Flavor of raisins is quite predominant, with a little bit of bubble gum on the back end.
PALATE: Full bodied with a creamy texture. Carbonation is a bit lively. Finish is long and sweet.
OVERALL: I believe that this is the first Eisbock brew that I’ve tried, and I have to say, I am quite impressed. The only negative thing I can say is that it is very sweet (even when it is ice cold), so it might be difficult to have more than one at a time. But that one will be oh so good!!
