Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Bottle with expiry date 2021.01.29. Black colour with brown reflexes, head disappears quickly without a trace. Intensive aroma of date, fig, raisin, also some bread, dough and honey. Alcohol is present but does not disturb. Medium sweet, light bitterness, mostly from alcohol. Not too heavy, lively carbonation.

330ml bottle from Good Spirits Co. Very dark amber with a thick off white head. Bready Christmas cake aroma, flavour pretty much the same with a big burny alcohol finish. Lovely stuff

Bottle from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn. Pours cloudy dark copper colour with a small short lasting off-white head. Aroma of plum jam, cherry, rhobarb, syrup, chocolate, and somewhat medicinal and alcoholic. Medium to heavy sweetness, light sour. Rich body, thick texture. Finish has a light sour edge and lasting fruity sweetness. Delicious.

Butelka 330ml (30.11.2020).

Bottle from Liquor Barn, poured in a pint glass. Dark brown amber with aroma of plums. Creamy full body. Sweet caramel malt and alcohol taste. Sweet finish. Packs a lot of nuance for a beer with so high an ABV.
