Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

Definately one of the best beers I've ever had. Wonderful malt profile, a belgium yeast thing going on in a german made beer. Looks beautiful, who could say anything bad? Schneider in Munich. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Täyteläinen suutuntuma on öljyisen samettisen pehmeä. Hieno olut pimeisiin syys- ja talvi-iltoihin.

11.2 oz. bottle. Dark brown with a lasting light beige head. Moderate carbonation. Aroma of dark fruits, alcohol, spice, and a surprising vinous element. Taste is dark fruits, spice, clove, hints of port/red wine, caramel, faint pepper, and alcohol. Quite intriguing, but not recommended as the drink of choice on an all-night bender.

26/11/2017: For RB Mass Online Tasting 11-2017. Bottled 30-05-2017. Cloudy dark brown with a small beige head, good retention. Rich aroma of dark fruits, plum, fig, raisin, banana, slightly bready, cloves. Taste is much the same, very rich with the dark fruits that really shine here, definite plum and raisin notes, fig, liquorice, sweet banana, wheat, clove adding a nice spiciness. It is noticeably boozy with a nice warming in the throat but is still very moreish. Full bodied with a lovely smooth silky mouthfeel, soft carbonation.
Enjoyed this even more than the first time so increasing my score a bit. 8-4-8-4-17.
14/05/2016: 33cl bottle. Cloudy dark brown colour with a small but lasting light brown head. Aroma of cloves/spices, yeast, alcohol, dark malt and fruits. Taste is quite boozy, yeast, banana, dark ripe fruits like cherry or plum, spicy, caramel. Smooth slick mouthfeel, warming. A little boozy but a very nice eisbock.

Bottle shared at Gremlin. Thanks for sharing Davido! Pour looks almost like a barley wine. Big fruit forward, boozy nose with cherry, apricot and wild blackberry with lots of caramel covered banana. Spicy and peppery on the palate with average carbonation. Raisin and some dark fruit as it warms. Feels lighter as it warms. Warming finish. My first real eisbock. Good stuff.
