Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children. In his honor, this imperial pale ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well. It is unfiltered and double dry hopped.

Hazy golden-orange colour with a nice, big frothy, creamy, warm-white head, great retention and lots of sticky lacing. Freshly squeezed orange, clementine juice aromas with lemon zest, herbal notes and hints of oats. The taste starts off smooth, mild, but big bitterness builds, to lead into dryness. Quite a nice American Imperial IPA with good juiciness, then bitterness and great finish lingering.

Get an earthy, grapefruit vibe. DDH makes this a homerun. Reading outback on a lovely night. Thanks Collin!

Can at home. Hazy yellow color, white head. Smell and taste malts, green grass. Freshly cut grass, towards citrusy, though not quite citrus-ish. Hoppy. Nice. Solid beer though a little thin.
