Abner (1867-1953) is our great grandfather; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to him and his fourteen children. In his honor, this imperial pale ale is dutifully crafted from American malted barley, a plethora of American hops, our ale yeast and water from Abner’s well. It is unfiltered and double dry hopped.

Growler thanks to Pweencess of Hetti-hetti fam aka Nathan Gelfant. Thanks brother. Pours a hazy shiny light orange with a medium white head. Aromas of straight up fresh mosaic hops, dank bitterness, stone fruits, light resin, citrussy, grassy. Taste is fruity, fresh hoppy, pineapple, stone fruits, earthy notes, slight tad of orange peel, lemon zest, grassy notes, tangerine. Amazing IIPA!

Draught @ City Hops (10/2/19). Extremely hazy rich yellow-orange with small foamy whitish head, faint citrus aroma, low carbonation, medium bitter citrus-mango-pineapple taste, faint alcohol undertones, smooth thin body, long medium bitter finish. Very well covered ABV, smooth and tasty.

Tap pour into goblet from The Dive Bar, Worcester. Appearance is cloudy orange with finger-width white foamy head with excellent retention and soapy lacing. Aroma is mix of grapefruit and citrus fruit. Taste is nonspecific fruity--hard to place--like a grapey, yogurty, fruit salad. Not tropical. Palate is light-to-medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and crisp finish as taste. Overall, pretty strong aroma and flavor but not terribly complex and fairly indistinct. Enjoyed it but falls short of a classic for me.
