Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival:
Pours a pitch black colour with a small head. Tar, coffee and liquorice on the nose. Sweet, rich and warming flavour of tar and charcoal. Better than Kaggen if you ask me.

[9/24/10] Draught at Borefts Beer Festival 2010. Black. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, some coffee hints and light fruity notes. Rich bittersweet chocolate flavor with alcohol, burnt malt and a bit of fruitiness. A drier alcoholic finish. Full velvety mouthfeel.

2009 version, draught at Borefts Beer Festival 2010, courtesy of Håge, thanks! This one had amazing character and complexity, with notes of dark bitter cocoa, licorice, vanilla, espresso, dark berries. Very smooth and perfectly balanced. Great beer!

2006 vintage as Årgångsporter 2006 brewed for BA, got it as when I saw it was the "månadens mörka" at BA Järntorget. Poured a pitch black body with a tiny off white head. Raisins, chocolate, cream, alcohol, little licorice, dust, general maltiness and that’s just the nose. A sublime raisiny soft maltiness carries everything, some weak roast pops up, but it fits in and isn’t really all that noticeable and it helps, Dusty, little regular Haribo, light bitter aftertaste. Superbly balanced stuff. Me love.

11oz bottle, 2008 vintage. Pours an opaque, oily black with one ring of tan head. Smells like a chocolate milk shake, malty, chocolate, a little pencil lead. Flavor is sweet, licorice, light coffee, light soy, brown sugar, chocolate, light cherry. Full bodied with some coffee bitterness through the end and a touch of that pencil lead again. This is the real deal. Very nice.

2006 vintage pours mahogany with copper edges and really no head to speak of. The aroma is kind of muted chocolate malts and some wet cardboard. The taste is ever so smooth with rich chocolate, molasses and toffee meeting up with modest dark roasted malts into the finish.
The 2008 (thanks to madmitch76) is bolder at the expense of being a little less smooth but also lacks the oxidation of the 2006. It has the same rich chocolate, molasses and toffee notes with an undercurrent of dark roasty malts. Yum.

Tap @ Bishops Arms. Black beer with a thick and long lasting brown head. Lots of nice sweetness in the aroma. Syrup, honey etc. Also some citrus and coffee. Very dark taste of chocolate liquor candy, licorice, soy and a little smoke.
