Ingredients: Malts: British Pale Ale Malt, Cara Malt, Malted Wheat. Heather, Bogmyrtle (Sweet Gale).
The Brotherhood have been guardians of the ancient Gaelic recipe for "leann fraoich" (heather ale) since 1988 and are proud to be the only brewery still producing this unique style of beer and distributing it world wide. A light amber ale with floral peaty aroma, full malt character, and a spicy herbal finish - This beer allows you to literally pour 4000 years of Scottish history into a glass.
Into the boiling bree of malted barley, sweet gale and flowering heather are added, then after cooling slightly the hot ale is poured into a vat of fresh heather flowers where it infuses for an hour before being fermented.

Bottle from the LCBO. Very pale cloudy yellow with a small white head. Nose is quite floral with some honey and grass as well as vanilla. Moderately sweet throughout with very light spice in the finish. Mouth is light and thin with soft carbonation. Nice and refreshing even if a little watery.

Botella de 50 cl en el lúpulo. Julio de 2012. Aromas y sabores bastante herbáceos. Cuerpo ligero con 5 vol muy fácil de beber. Interesante por su gran carga de hierbas y arbustos. Para repetir sin problema por original.

Bottle at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Pours yellow with small foamy white head, doughy aroma, low carbonation, tastes pretty weak, abrupt finish. Interestinmg description but disappointing product.

This is a nice beer. Interesting heather taste. Very pale colour, with slight head. Nice to try a beer without the hops. Not that I don’t like hops. Just a nice change.

Poured from 330mL bottle. Cloudy pale yellow with very minimal white head. Herbal, cereal aroma. Flavour starts with cereal followed by tea flavours of mint and chamomile with a touch of sweetness at the end. Fairly light body. Taste is quite interesting.
