Every year on the 24th of February, the birthday of "Charles the fifth", the Brewery brews the Gouden Carolus "Cuvee of the Emperor" in a limited quantity and with an eye on the highest quality and tradition. This unique brewing, with only extra fine Belgian hops and with a higher alcohol level, guarantees a better evolution in the time, than the already known Gouden Carolus Classic. The 75cl bottles are closed with a quality cork. Excellent to store several years. This exceptional ale ages well, developing a refined complexity and intense aromas. With powerful notes of roasted malts, caramel and plums, its surprisingly soft and fruity aroma combines a warm roundness with a refreshing taste. An imperial brew to cherish and enjoy in moderation.

2017 batch. Smell-weak to medium, caramel, Belgian, malt, pleasant. Foam - sweet, caramel, Belgian yeast, acidic. Head is small, light brown-white, coffee foam color. Appearance - re-sealable bottle, label etched on the bottle. Very dark brown color, close to being black. No visible carbonation. From - snifter Taste - caramel, sweet, alcohol, malt, Belgian yeast, acidic. Some cola taste to it. A fine Belgian, alcohol is definitely here but is still somewhat hidden. Might buy a bottle just to age it a bit more. This one is from 2017.

En nydelig blanding av mange smaker som en etter en trår frem som solister i en symfoni. Klarer ikke helt å bestemme meg for om det er akkurat litt for mye i denne, eller Cubus n det er akkurat passe maks. En favoritt, som sikkert blir bedre med årene.

Tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours dark reddish brown, with very fine white foam. Aroma is malty, figs, molasses. Body is fairly dense, with very moderate carbonation. Taste is medium-high sweet. Final is average in length, with some more sweetness.

75cL fles 2017. Zwart bier met schuim. Smaak is zoet, warm en krachtig met iets van gedroogde vruchten, rozijnen, ietwat anijs en karamel. Erg fijn bier.

Bei Bierlinie in Berlin (2018 Edition). Dunkle braune Farbe, kein Schaum. Geschmack: Malz (Dunkle Frucht), Wein, Karamell. Geschmack: Schwere Süße, dunkle Früchte, getrocknete Früchte wie Rosinen, Likörig.
