This is an aged Belgian red ale, which is ‘ripened quietly in oak barrels for two years’, according to the label. It has an extremely pungent aroma of rich grapey fruit, with acidic notes, very much like a slightly sour red wine or possibly a gueuze. In the mouth it is slightly sweet, extremely acidic and fruity, with grapes and even cherries discernible, and very lively. Despite the sweetness it is not at all cloying, even thin, with little or no trace of malt. Finish is sharp and fruity

33cl bottle - Pours a dark reddish amber colour with a small beige head that settled. Aroma is sweet berries, light vinegar and woody notes. A moderately to light sweet and vinegary taste, berries and sour fruit flavours with a drying tangy finish. Nice!

Hazy, reddish-brown color and a tiny off-white head. Acidic sour aroma with lots of raspberries and other red fruits. Quite sweet followed by delicate sourness.

Fruity funk on the nose. Sour and tart, a bit of acidity, overripe grapes. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours clear chestnut brown with medium white head. Aroma is caramel, malt drops, herbs, chalk and mild vinegar. Taste is medium sweet, light bitter and medium acidic. Body is oily with sparkling carbonation. Finish is long and balanced sweet and sour with notes of malt, fruit, herbs, vinegar and wine. Not that much oak though.

The Aromas are sweet tart raisins and vinegar. The flavors are similar to nose, adding in prunes. Good carbonation body and finish.
