A brewers' favourite, our year-round stout is matured for a minimum of four weeks for a full body and smooth finish. Aromas of dark, roasted malt and subtle liquorice lead into indulgent rounded flavours with a touch of red fruit before a long, lightly bitter finish.

Clear reddish brown colour, beige head. Aroma of hops, citrus, light malts, lots of hay and some bread notes. Flavour of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, hops. Bitter finish, roasted malts and hops. Nice!

Small slightly brown shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly fresh roasted, dark malts, hops, coffee, rubber, licorice, hay, pine needles. Taste is slightly fresh and dry, dark malts, hops, grass, leafs, cardboard, hay, rubber. Longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Fair enough, reminds me more of a black IPA though.

From cask. Pours hazy dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted dark malty, chocolate and light tarish. Bitter, light fruity, chocolate and dark malty. Slight to the sweet side. Bitter and dry roasted finish.

Cask @ Craft Beer Co, Clerkenwell. Pours black with a small light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, licorice, little dark fruit. Flavor is malts, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice, dried dark fruits, raisins. Medium body oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. 200913

Cask (handpump) @ Craft Beer Co., 82 Leather Lane, London, Greater London, England EC1N 7TR.Clear dark red brown colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, dark malt. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark malt, fruity hops, fresh, ash notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20121208]
