Bottle at Cask Pub & Kitchen. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is rich roasted malt, espresso, salted liquorice, caramel and earth. The taste is roasted malt, coffee, ash, assertive bitterness, varnish, scorched earth, unnamed notes, salted liquorice, pepper and a touch of alcohol warmth in the background. Full body and moderate carbonation. Bold and flavoursome yet is well balanced and very drinkable. Very nice indeed!

Bottle shared with Seth at CBC - Clerkenwell, London. Pours black with a creamy, tan head. Lots of ashy roast in the nose, some burnt wood, earth. Medium sweet flavor, plenty of ashy roast, some burnt meat, chocolate, wood, earth, light alcohol, charcoal. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, more ash, roast, some licorice, charred malts, baking cocoa. Exceptionally well balanced. Very smooth.
