750 ml bottle bought @ beermerchants.com. Pours slightly hazy golden with a huge frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is fruity, yeasty and phenolic with green grapes, dark plums, crackers, dry soil, hay, cloves, white pepper, allspice, lemon grass essence, overripe mandarin oranges, wood, alcohol and hints of grape juice. Taste is slightly sweet, fruity and slightly phenolic with crackers, dry soil, white bread, dry wood, dark grapes, unripe plums, unripe cherries, lemon grass, mandarin oranges, alcohol, hay, cloves, allspice and yellow winegums. Mouthfeel is slightly spicy dry, tiny fruity tart, slightly round, very tiny astringent and medium bodied. Finish is fruity and phenolic with grapes, plums, hay, dry wood, chardonnay wine, dry spicy yeast, allspice, dry soil and crackers. Another tasty Belgian style ale from Lost Abbey. They rarely disappoint.

From a bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold with a thin white head. Fresh lemon aroma. Tart lemon zest and bitter finish. Nice.

750 ml bottle. Pours a light gold with large head that dissipates quickly but leaves nice lacing. Aromas of banana and yeast, with a bit of rubber and tropical fruit. Bang on Belgian. Typical yeast, banana, and cloves flavor. Very nice.

Pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma has notes of malt, sugar, citrus and yeast. Taste is medium sweet and light to medium bitter with a long fruity finish. Body is full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Pours a cloudy yellow gold color with a massive rocky white head. Aroma of lemony wheat malt with fresh hay and yeasty undertones. Bitter lemon peel malt flavor, complex and bittersweet. Lively carbonation and fruity citrus malt/hops dominate the palate. Wonderfully refreshing and belgian-like. A little more pronounced and rougher than Duvel. More noticeable alcohol prescence.

Bottle at Lost Abbey. Bready, yeasty nose, with honey. Glowing orange-gold color with lace. Very rich and bready, lots of yeast flavors, some spice. A rather disappointing tripel.

Aroma feels slightly sour and dry with grassy hops and soapy citrus. Foamy palate. Flavour is rather strong on grassy Belgian hops. Also some soapy citrus. I was expecting a Duvel clone and was surprised positively by the high amount of hops.

750 ml. 2011 vintage from Table and Vine. Hazy yellow-golden color with a huge foamy white head that left enormous lacing. Belgian yeast, clove and earthy/ spicy hops. Flavor is of yeast, indescribable fruit, that is lightly tart, spicy hops, light clove note. Medium in body. Mild bitterness in the finish. Bone dry finish. Cotton mouth texture. Pretty good stuff.

Clear dark golden with a huge white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, fruity, yeasty, spicy and a little alcohol. Flavor is quite sweet and rather bitter. Dry and rather bitter finish. 050612

0.75l corked bottle from beermerchants.com Really fancy these Lost Abbey bottles. It's just so followed through in the details. The pour on this one is golden blurry with a massive massive fluffy just off-white head that's really sticking around. Lovely and surprisingly fruity "champagne" aroma, tons of Belgian yeast, white wine grapes, ripe old pears, something light lactic and acidic and hints both of red currants and smoke. Really nice. Lively really full-bodied. Tons of warming alcohol, Belgian yeast, almost some pear-ish fusel tones, bitter grapefruit, really warming, and for me there is a really heavy smoked both finish and aftertaste! Really? Have they added smoked malts in this one or are the good old taste buds just extra confused this evening? Anyhow, at first a bit to alco-strong and dominating, but it really opens up after some time in the glass, and it turned out to be a complex, different and quite tasty Belgian on an otherwise horrible afternoon. 03.05.2012
