The original ale first brewed in 1965 and now sold all over the world. Perhaps the most distinctive Scottish ale on the market and with its rich dark oakiness, this is a serious winter ale.

--> Sehr leckeres Spitzenbier! Probierenswert! --> 13+13+12+13 = 12,75

Bottle shared on the train from Inverness to Plockton, from Tomlinsons, 19/10/13. Chestnut brown with reddish hues and a moderate light tan covering. Nose is dark fruit, figgy jam, sherry notes, woody tones, fruit loaf, brown sugars. Taste packs a little boozey vein, caramelised muscavado sugars, Xmas cake, dates, prunes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, sweet finale with a little lacing of booze. Ok stuff, drinkable and lightly warming.

Poured from a bottle it is a reddish brown ale with a slight cream
Color head. The aroma is of mocha and a hint of cherry the taste seems unusual with a netaluc taste That resonates bitter on the palate

Clear dark brown beer with a small cream - tan coloured head. Palate is light and low carbonation, semi dry. Light cherry sourness under fairly neutral malt. Pinch of dust. Mild tangy orange and semi dry finish. An older bottle from Kulminator has much more obvious cherry with mildly oxidised caramel malt and a little wet wood. More intense all round and I much preferred the older one.

330ml bottle. Dark brown ruby tinged colour, foam off-white head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of doughy malt caramel, chocolate & dark fruits. Taste is sweetish biscuity malt, treacle, dark fruit with chocolate, alcohol and a light bitterness. Smooth mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft carbonation, some residiual sweetness at the finish. Quite drinkable.
