Double IPA-like beer with a very hoppy taste that kicks in hard. The malty backbone give the beer a grainy and full basis. Nice.

Bottle from ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a murky dark brown with a huge frothy medium tan head and lots of lace. The aroma is very strong hops, caramel and roasted malt. The flavour is strong bitter with a roasted malt, dry yeast, spicy liqourice palate. It’s very drinkable for such a strong ale and the alcohol is well controlled. It needs a fireside to drink it next to :-) This bottle was a couple of years old and old father time was on its side.

Hazy deep amber - red beer, tidy tan head. Palate is soft and a little dry. Nice nose of marmalade and red berries. Creamy malt. The hops follow the nose - marmalade and lesser red berry fruits. Floral dried fruits with a tangy tangerine note. Finishes soft with a mild hop tang. An unusual and tasty beer, very drinkable.

(Bottle, Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 27 July 2013) Dark red colour with dense, beige head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, red fruit and blood orange. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, red fruit, blood orange, black-currant, rye bread and a generous spicy bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain malt sweetness. Quite well balanced for its strength and with a good hop character. Nice one.

Enjoyed at the 4de Gents Bierfestival, 2013. The 33cl bottle pours with an opaque dirty copper body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up a mix of malts, some malt sweetened citrus and then pine hop resiny notes. The taste delivers fairly rich malts mixing with firm levels of flavor and bitter citrus hop notes. The hops struggle for a while amid the maltiness but do offer up a few glimpses of resiny hop bitterness. Pretty nice stuff.

Small yellowish-cream head, veiled amber-chestnut beer. Sweet, syrupy nose with rosewatersyrup, amandine, cakelacquer. Overperfumed, but the hops yield a metallic bitterness in the finish. More, the sample gives the impression of being oxydized. Rosewater embittered. Quite slick, even viscous, alcoholwarming. Sample too long on the shelf?

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled on 26/03/13, from Slijterij Wijnhandel Acht Zaligheden, Maastricht, 20130719) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, pine and herbalness. Palate was full bodied and warming with medium carbonation. Flavours were toasted malts, caramell, pine, herbalness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty and bitter. Somewhat unbalanced brew. Aging might soften edges and make this beer better. Alcohol was pushing though a bit too intensely, too.
