Draft @ the brewpub. Pours a black color with a small longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty chocolate and coffee aroma. Roasted malty coffee and chocolate flavor. Has a roasted malty coffee and chocolate finish.

On tap. Pours a clear black with a warm reddish hue and an off-white head. Hard roasted malt aroma. Medium body, sweetish hard roasted malt. Distinctly fusty and mildewy. Very discreet bitterness. 080709

From tap at the brewpub in Solana Beach. Pours dark black with a small orange glare and a small off-white head. Roasted malty aroma. Smooth roasted malt flavoured base, mild liqourice and coffee accents. Light acidity into the far finish. Ends and dark malty.

Draft in Solana Beach. A dark brown beer with a red shine under a thin tan head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt as well as some caramel. The flavor is sweet and very roasted, combined with notes of coffee, leading to a dry and very roasted finish.

Sampler @ Pizza Port (Solana Beach) Nitro. Pours black, with off white head. Aroma / taste, malty, nitro on the palate, some chocolate, with a very smooth light finish, malts, grains, light coffee notes. Has a smooth, thick creamy finish.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a dark brown/black color with a medium and foamy beige head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee, cocoa and malt. Medium and glassy smooth body with flavors of coffee, chocolate and hops with a solid roasted malt base. The finish is roasty and midly bitter with coffee and hops aftertaste. Above average all around.
