On draught at Old Mill Stream in St. Charles, MO. The beer pours dark brown-black with a thin beige head that dissipates steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Lots of blueberry in the nose along with a little roast. Medium, smooth body with a flavor that has equal parts blueberry and roasted malt. The finish is sweet blueberries and malt along with a touch of hops left over. Decent overall.

Deep, pitch black coloured body with a nice large light brown head. Aroma of pungent alcohol, like vodka, mixed with blueberries, muffins, chocolate and a lot of sweet things. But the alcohol is SUPER strong. Medium-bodied; Strong blueberry flavour with some chocolate and malt coming behind and a ton of alcohol and pungent liquor like tastes. Aftertaste shows a lot of the alcohol warmth with the liquor-like tastes strongest and a chocolatey, blueberry taste shortly afterwards. Overall, a decent blueberry stout - a bit too strong and pungent for my liking, but at least the flavours mentioned do show up! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Ye Olde Spirit Shop in Frederick, Maryland on 29-July-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 26-November-2010. Rating for this Sample; 7,4,5,1,11 Second Sample (~8 years later) Deep dark brown coloured body with a thin tan head along with a 80% opaque dark brown glow. Aroma of pure blueberries along with some deep muffin and wheat notes with a lot of breadth and a good deal of sweetness throughout with sugars and a nice fruity scent at the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive blueberry flavours with a bit of citrus and grain and a ton of the more earthy malts coming through, but the blueberries are by far the strongest, and in a good way, given that they taste like a fresh blueberry muffin and the sweetness hits in the right side of things. Aftertaste is nice and robust with a smooth complexity with fruits, malt and a little bit of bitterness and sweetness and more of the pure blueberries on the end. Overall, a much nicer beer than I remember writing about, and definitely one to sample if you can find it, especially for the price (at least from Costco)! Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours a very dark brown with small tight light brown head. Aroma is light blueberry, very little lacing, and thick palate. Taste is smooth dark malt, a little cocoa, and a hint of blueberry.

Bottle, $1.80 at Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours very dark with almost no head. Aroma of blueberries and chocolate. Overwhelming blueberry flavor with hints of bitter dark chocolate. Good, not great.

12 oz. mixed six at the former Sam’s Wines. Brewed by Pyramid. Distinct blueberry smell out of the bottle, not artificial or overly strong. Pour is a bit lighter and clearer than a stout, settles dark brown in the glass with a fizzy but thick head. Good blueberry smell in the glass, but it masks out most of the stout smell. Taste is overly fizzy for the style, like a soda pop. I can get a bit of the stout roastiness onto my tongue, but the blueberries are still there. If I don’t fret so much over the base style, I find this is a pretty decent fruit beer. Nothing cloying, artificial or mediciney about it. They’ve actually found the right balance, a hard thing for a delicate taste like blueberry. If not for the fizzy carbonation, it’d be very enjoyable. Slight smoky finish!

12 oz bottle. Pours a dark, oil color with a small tan head. Aroma is blueberry, like sweet blueberry syrup. Flavor is sweet, blueberry, syrup like, notes of roasted malts, chocolates. I liked it, but it was a little too sweet for my tastes.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours dark brown to black with a small tan head. Aroma is distinct blueberry fruity. Light roasted note. Sweet and citric flavoured. Nice roasted malt note. Lingering roasted and mild fruity into the finish.
