Location: 12 oz bottle from Norm's, 1/25/10

Aroma: The aroma is basically just blueberries and roasted malts at first, as it warms the blueberry part fades a touch, and the roasted malts grow stronger, and just a little semi-sweet chocolate joins it too.
Appearance: Pours a hazy dark brown color with a thin light brown head
Flavor: Taste is light-medium sweet and light-medium bitter, semi-tart finish
Palate: Medium body, somewhat creamy mouthfeel, with lively carbonation
Overall Impression: The blueberry is much more prominent in the initial nose then in the nose as it warms or in the taste. I'm not sure I'd call this a fruit beer, more of a sweet stout, me thinks. Anyway, this beer is pretty solid, it has quite a bit of flavor and a nice flow to it. Nice stuff, I may have expected the score to be higher, but I think the classification and the word "blueberry" in the name (and the stigma attached to fruit beers) cause this one to be a touch undervalued in my opinion.

Poured from bottle, very small and quickly dissipating head. I ordered this at a local bar mainly because I was curious, wasn’t expecting it to be mind blowing and it isn’t, just much better than what I thought it would be. Blueberries are very prevalent yet the taste is an undertone. It’s basically an oatmeal stout and tastes like it has blueberries in it.

30th July 2008. Opaque stout with a beige head. Startling sharp blueberry and floral sweetness over a robust mildy toasted oatmeal stout. Flavour has an artificial tang but that’s okay. The carbonation works well.

Pour is a black with a small tan head. Aroma is of blueberrys and coffee Reminds me of Sunday morning. Flavor is again stong blueberry up front with some roasted malts that leave a chocolate and coffee on the tounge after the swallow. Better than i thought it would be but still could only enjoy this in moderation.

Bottle from Vintage Cellar. Brown/black color with a decent tan head. Strong aroma of blueberry with some coffee. Full bodied with prickly, but nearly creamy, carbonation. Flavor is blueberry, coffee and burnt toast. Rather dry; almost tart. Sure is different.

Bottle. Poured black with cafe au lait head. Aroma of blueberries, just blueberries. Flavour is surprisingly balanced. Bluberries, a little spice, some malt. Thin finish, just dtops off the table.

bottle - Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. The smell is almost all blueberries. Where’s the stout? The taste is really dominated by the blueberries and unfortunately there’s some blueberry flavoring of some kind involved, not just fresh blueberries. It’s obvious and I guess explains the "natural flavoring" mentioned on the label. There’s a little malt in there too, but I expected more from a "stout". It’s medium bodied and while drinkable, the blueberry is not well done at all. I wonder if this is what would happen if A-B made a blueberry stout.

Bottle shows an oatmeal stout. Courtesy of Tilley4. Intrigued by the aspect of tasting a blueberry stout, I knew the actual blueberry would give this beer some acidic notes. Aroma is just filled with blueberries, and not much else transpires from the aroma. Taste begins as something interesting and quickly turns into another Buffalo disappointment. Some nice floral hops do again get smother by the overwhelming presence of the blueberries. Overall palate has hints of oat and gains in acidity as the beer warms up. An interesting idea, just nothing of a stout to be noted.

12 oz bottle from Enniskillen. Nose is blueberries, coffee, some light sweetness, and some flowery hops. Clear,very dark brown with a small beige head. Flavor is slightly sweet blueberries and chocolate with a bitter soapy note. Not nearly as good as the Big Sky Slow Elk Oatmeal Stout I had last night. Drinkable but a little sweet and the odd soapiness.
