Original Ritterguts Gose

Bottle shared. Very hazy golden orange with barely any head. Aroma of lemon, lactic notes, mineral, light herbal. Flavour is above light sweet, sour and heavy salty. Light to medium bodied with light carbonation.

Bottle from Hopduvel shared by Jan, cheers! Apparently the oldest still existing Gose brand, continued by Reichenbrand after the demise of the original brewery. Medium thick, snow white head, quickly reduced to a thin rim, over a cloudy straw blonde beer with ochre hue. Aroma of soggy white bread, subtle soapy coriander, hint of iron, Sauerkraut, picalilly, pickled sweet pearl onions and gherkins, cereals, straw. Restrained fruitiness in the onset, hints of apple and gooseberry, immediately followed by a soft salty touch and eventually an equally soft, well-placed, mildly drying lactic sourness, soapy touch in the middle of first wheat and then subtle coriander, lingering Sauerkraut-like flavor, very refreshing. This must be the archetype of the style: no real ’extremities’, just the basic profile of a classic Gose with everything in the correct proportions and nothing added that doesn’t belong in the traditional recipe. Highly recommended as the ultimate introduction to the style, from which one can venture further into the realm of more extreme, modern craft Goses.

Keg at Scurreria Beer and Bagel. Genoa. A pale golden coloured pour with a frothy white head. Aroma is tangy citrus, lemon rind, slightly soapy, semi sweet malts. Flavour is composed of tangy citrus, salt, lemon, semi sweet cereal grains, lavender. A bit sickly . Palate is tangy, light bodied, moderate to low carbonation. Ok, but I couldn’t drink a pint.

Bottle shared. Pretty gold with a small white head that dissipates quickly. Clean and crisp coriander notes with good maltiness and a nice salty mid-palate and finish. Easy drinking and wonderful for summer!

At a tasting, many thanks, small creamy bubbly jead, light hazy palish orang color, aroma of yeast and roots with some fruitiness in the back, flavor of lemon, minerals and herbs, quite sour and salty but also really mellow. Easy to drink and really enjoyable.

Oddly grapey nose, concord grapes and white wine. Hazy amber, thin head. Tart sauvignon blanc, oak, faint wheat bread. Medium body, somewhat spritzy. I like it.

0.5 l bottle from ’Rudat’, best before May 2016. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, fluffy, quickly collapsing, white head. Sweetish, spicy and a bit sourish-fruity aroma of lots of coriander, apple peel, some citrus and wheat. Sourish-fruity, slightly spicy taste of citrus, apple peel, wheat, some vanilla and coriander, followed by a short, slightly tart, rather spicy and a little salty-minerally finish. Thin to medium body, smooth and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Tasty and refreshing, very well-balanced, overall highly drinkable and a good Gose!

Clear and golden. Aroma is strangely salty and perfumed. Salty and a bit sour. Good if you have a mouth ulcer.

Bottle. A- Subtle lemon, mineral water. A- Yellow color, cloudy liquid, white head. T- Lemon, salty, citrus, mineral water. P- Light body, creamy texture, average carbonation, soft finish. O- Pretty subtle not not tart or sour at all. Slightly salty and pretty refreshing.
