Draught at the brewpub on April 21, 2016.Cloudy dark brown to black color, brown head. Grainy, light roasted scent. Malty, grainy taste. Grainy aftertaste, also some cacao. Full, smooth mouthfeel, medium to medium low bitterness. Some warming alcohol.

Keg @ 3 Små Rum. Pours brownish black with a small frothy mocha tan head that leaves some sparse spotty trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and slightly spicy with roasted malts, caramel, dark rustic bread, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, cinnamon, dates, red chili, moist soil, liquorice and hints of alcohol. Taste is slightly sweet, slightly bitter, malty and slightly spicy. Mouthfeel is soft, slightly creamy, slightly viscous, round, tiny astringent, tiny spicy hot, tiny boozy and medium to full bodied. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter with roasty malts, chocolate, dates and a pleasantly tingling chili character. I know this was supposed to be a 10% imperial stout but something went wrong which I was disappointed to see. However, this drinks as a chuggable(-ish) Westbrook Mexican Cake which is a marvellous experience in itself. Beautiful balance between malts, dates, chocolate and spices. Just think about it...
