Key Lime Tau (2π) was brewed in collaboration with Hawkshead Brewery (UK) as part of the Trans-Atlantic Rainbow Project, a series that challenges brewers to come together and brew a beer inspired by a color. In its third year, the 2015 project involved seven UK breweries, each paired with a different American brewery and randomly assigned a color.
Key Lime Tau (6.3% ABV), brewed to embody the color green, is a Mixed Culture Fermentation Ale aged in Oak with Lactose, Fresh Lime Peel and Fresh Lemongrass.

Bottle split at the ABC Beers pre Borefts tasting, 24/09/15. Lightly hazed golden amber with a decent off white covering. Nose is lime jus, faint soap trace, funk, straw, bitter citric edge, light wood. Taste comprises spice, straw, key lime pie, herbal notes, funky. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a puff of smoke. Decent enough sour.

Draft at Buxton Taphouse. Cloudy golden yellow color, big fluffy white head. Nice aroma of lime snd rising cake dough. Taste has softly sour lime, and maybe even some Graham cracker. A very welcome change from golden after golden after golden.

Bottle @ ABC Beers Borefts Pre-tasting. Hazy orange color, average sized white head that lasts for a decent while. Aroma is lightly malts, lots of herbs or spices. Tastes like dishwasher water. Yuk. Totally dislike this. Bleh.

Tap. Magic Rock Tap. Very hazy gold. Thin, messy, off white head. Salted, soapy lime. Very perfumed. Bit of a bath salt thing. Not massively up my street. Taste is soapy bitter. Tart and dry, too. Slick palate. Decent fizz. Lactic tang on the finish. Can’t get beyond the soapy thing. Didn’t get on with this.
