Key Lime Tau (2π) was brewed in collaboration with Hawkshead Brewery (UK) as part of the Trans-Atlantic Rainbow Project, a series that challenges brewers to come together and brew a beer inspired by a color. In its third year, the 2015 project involved seven UK breweries, each paired with a different American brewery and randomly assigned a color.
Key Lime Tau (6.3% ABV), brewed to embody the color green, is a Mixed Culture Fermentation Ale aged in Oak with Lactose, Fresh Lime Peel and Fresh Lemongrass.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo webshop, Earlsdon, Coventry. Consumed at Isobels, Eardisley, Herefordshire 1st November 2015. Pours hazy dark gold/amber with a white head. Aroma is wonderfully zippy lime, but also cheesecake or maybe yoghurt, it’s also a bit yeasty. Wow this is just like a beery Key Lime Pie in the mouth, tangy, fresh lime zappy, some sourness, a touch lactic but a bit of biscuit but just loads of lime, yummy....great beer and best of The Rainbow Project beers in my opinion. Bottle from Beavertown. It pours cloudy orange-amber with a thick white head. The nose is fresh, creamy, zesty lime, earth, bread, biscuit and a touch of soap. The taste is crisp, tart, fresh, lactic, yoghurt,, zesty lime action, lemongrass, gooseberry, light soap, bread, biscuit and just a touch of acidity with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Well-rounded and rather drinkable stuff. Hits the brief on key lime pie. Not a huge amount of depth, but it is pretty enjoyable.

Bottle at home, 8th October 15. Pours hazy. Aroma is nice lime, almost a cocktail. Taste is slick, rich lime, biscuit, not overly sour, but interesting. Fun to drink and quite unique, probably the best of the Rainbow line up I have consumed so far.

Bottle from the Rainbow launch event and drunk at home. Hazy cloudy amber colour with a lasting beige head. Lime on the aroma definitely with a bit of a wild yeast. The lime is extremely present in the mouth. It’s a little weird. I mean it does have a kind of internal balance. Very limey. Some sourness on the finish. Quite entertaining. But is it a beer or a radler? I mean it is entertaining. Would I want another bottle? Probably not.

Bottle from Beets. Hazy bronze body with a medium off-white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of rhubarb, grapefruit and sugared limes. Flavour of lime, blood orange and candy floss - a nice sweet and sour thing going on. Thin body with a spritzy mouthfeel. Very fizzy. Reminds me of a cross between a mojito and G&T. Very unique.
