“Place of the skull - named after an ancient burial ground and tunnel in Shepherdswell”. A rich, deep and broad malt base gives this stout a very long smooth finish. Hops are prominent on the nose with blackcurrant, liquorice and cedar.

Tried at the Newark beer festival 2022. Black colour with a thick tan head. Rich malty bitter and so smooth full bodied.

Cask at PoW Beer Festival. Aroma if full on caramel. Burnt caramel. Dark opaque brown. Creamy beige head. Salted caramel is what comes to mind. Coffee bitterness. Medium bodied. Oily. Flat  carbonation. Astringent finish.

9/6/2021. Cask at the Tombstone Saloon, Great Yarmouth. Pours very dark brown with a small bubbly beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, oats, chocolate, coffee, liquorice, touch of fruit, roots and spices. Moderate sweetness and bitterness, with a slight sour fruity edge. Moderate body, quite watery. Soft carbonation. Bitter roast finish. Okay. Hoped for better.

Cask at The Wellington; dark coca cola brown pour with a creamy tan head, aroma has light coffee and roast, taste has sweet chocolate malts, light coffee, hint of roast.

Cask-conditioned on gravity at Just Ales, Wells 3/12/2016. Near black, with a small, beige, head. Some coffee toastiness, chocolate sweetness and a hint of dar berries before a dryish finish. Good.

Bottle split at ABC Beer The Hague, 24/09/2015. Thanks. A dark caramel brown coloured pour with a small creamy head. Aroma is tangy roast, apple choc, hint of infection. Flavour is composed of choccy roast, tangy dried apple, nutty malts, granny smith. grassy. Palate is semi sweet, moderate carbonation.

Appearance- very dark, light brown tinges, a huge light brown head which gradually recedes. Aroma- milky coffee, liquorice, blackcurrant, raisin, toast, roast malt, chocolate. Taste- creamy milky chocolate, caramel biscuit, liquorice, vanilla, clinging hop bitterness, fudge, almond, latte. Creamy and clingy mouthfeel, slightly sweet on the end. Pretty good.

Bottle 500ml. @ [ Pre-Borefts Ratebeer evening ] - ABC Beers, Korte Koediefstraat 5, Den Haag, Netherlands 2511CE. [ As Wantsum Golgotha ].Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, dark malt, coffee - coffee vegetable. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, vegetables - coffee vegetables, roasted, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20150924]

[9/24/15] Bottle sample at the pre-Borefts tasting at ABC Beers in Den Haag. Thanks everyone who shared bottles! Dark brown. Aroma of chocolate, nuts, some roast, yeast. Flavor has light sweetness, roast, chocolate, nuts, a bitterish touch. Medium-bodied.
