Fudge, prune, and bourbon nose, strong. Viscous, deep mahogany pour, headless. Full bodied, but not as thick as it looks. Hot bourbon, charred oak, black currant with prune overtones. Boozy. Oak and plum skins on the back end. Not really my thing, too much bourbon and too little stout.

Samples of 2009, 2011 and 2012 vintages at the 5th Annual Coldest Day of the Year Stout Tasting on 01/26/2013: Dark brown pour with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Roasted malt and bourbon in the nose. Medium to full body with flavors of toasted malt, vanilla, bourbon and a bit of chocolate. The finish is oaky with a vanilla and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

2011 bottle. Pours dark brown with light tan head ring. Nose and taste of mostly bourbon with molasses, clove, dark cherry, smoked chicory, raisin, maple, wood, vanilla and oak. thinner body for the style. A bit boozy.

2011 Vintage. Enjoyed at 55 in an HFS tulip. Bottle #437. Pours no head at all. Midnight black, oily in texture. Bourbon dominates the nose. Majority is vanilla and some smokiness. Taste is very textured. Surprisingly sweet with a vanilla finish. Brown sugar, some hints of dark fruits and sort of a candy taste in the middle. Hints of charred cedar smokiness. heavy body, almost no carbonation.
