Motala jul Bottle "courtesy" of rlgk. Pours clear copper with a huge frothy dirt white head that slowly dissipates while leaving some soapy lacing on the glass. Smell is sour and spicy with bread, sassafras, lemon zest, hay, dry soil and liquorice root. Taste is sweet, bitter and spicy with dark bread, juniper berries, wood, hay, caramel, toffee, soil and cloves. Mouthfeel is round, tiny watery, tiny spicy astringent and light bodied. Finish is bitter and spicy with dark bread, caramel, juniper berries, wood and soil. Doesn’t taste as aweful as it smells. Perhaps it was better fresh... --- Beer merged from original tick of Julöl on 27 Jan 2014 at 01:30 - Score: 3

Bottled, thanks rlgk! Hazy mahogany colour, small head. Fruit nose with some floral spices. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Caramelly with some nutmeg. Long resiny bitterness. The best beer I’ve tried so far from Motala.

Bottled (thanks rlgk!). Copper colour, small beige head. Aroma is spices, vegetables, horseradish, and mild yeastyness. Flavour is spices, mild horseradish, yeast and some slight notes of herbs. Strange, but actually not unpleasant.

Dark nut brown color, steady beige head. Spicey and vegetably nose. Medium-bodied. Flavor has cold coffee, spices and vegetables, Odd dry woodyness. This is also very homeberwish.
