Uerige Sticke is only served twice a year: always on the third Tuesday in January and October. This beer is brewed with more malt and hops, and is much richer than Uerige Alt. Sticke with its intense and elegant aroma contains 6% abv.
The unusual name derives from olden days, when the guests would whisper (‘stickum’ being a dialect term for whispering) that the master brewer must have been a little too generous when weighing out the ingredients.
Thanks to the higher alcohol percentage, Uerige Sticke can be stored for much longer than the declared and guaranteed minimum shelf life.

330ml bottle. Clear, chestnut colour with ruby glimmer and average to huge, thick, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Fruity hoppy and minimally toasty, nutty, caramel malty aroma, notes of red berries, lingonberry, red currant, a touch of toffee, leafy tobacco overtones. Taste is toasty, minimally nutty malty and leafy, slightly fruity hoppy, subtle sweetness, hints of lingonberry, a touch of toffee; creamy texture, smooth and soft palate.

33 cl ceramic swing top bottle. Pours a tawny copper brown color. Small creamy beige head. Toasted malt nose has earthy, sweet caramel notes. Interesting bittersweet caramel malt flavor upfront. Some nuttiness in middle, with a hint of rye grain. Bitter hops in finish are slightly resiny. Very good.

Bottle. Murky brown with orange tinges and a big head. Aroma of fruity and herbal hops and some caramel. Taste is caramel and toffee. Malty, fruity and bitter. Hoppy finish. Medium carbonation. A hint of booziness. It's nice and delicious but I prefer the regular version as I feel it's more balanced and satisfying.

Bottle at brauhaus zum weiren Bären. Pours unclear darker caramelly amberbrow . Small white head, with a nice stability. Smell is malty, metallic, tad sweet. Taste is full, heavy on the malts, metallic, not my favorite alt.

Bottle from Utobeer. It pours hazy deep brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is rich malty action, caramel, brown bread, fruit cake, molasses, toffee and toasted nut. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, rich wood, leather, varnish, spice, resin, touch of spice, earth, toast and fruit cake with a drying and woody finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Good classic example of the style.

Swing top bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy amber brown color with thick creamy tan-like head and soft visible carbonation. Aroma of caramel, flowers, honey, grass and dried fruit. Taste starts with medium sweet caramel and floral, following is grassy, mouthfeel is warming, while finish is moderate bitter. Medium to full body, thick texture and average carbonation in palate. Bon Jovi’s "Stick to your guns" comes on my mind with this one...
