Uerige Sticke is only served twice a year: always on the third Tuesday in January and October. This beer is brewed with more malt and hops, and is much richer than Uerige Alt. Sticke with its intense and elegant aroma contains 6% abv.
The unusual name derives from olden days, when the guests would whisper (‘stickum’ being a dialect term for whispering) that the master brewer must have been a little too generous when weighing out the ingredients.
Thanks to the higher alcohol percentage, Uerige Sticke can be stored for much longer than the declared and guaranteed minimum shelf life.

Bottle at home. From Wine Rack, West Byfleet. Caramel/grassy aroma but low on the dial. Dark amber, verging on opaque. Creamy if thin off-white head. Light bitter. Develops a citric sourness. Medium bodied. Soft. Carbonation. Dry finish, with a touch of the astringent. Less going on than the standard Alt I just had, but perhaps best described as more refined. A more balanced taste and I prefer the palate. There’s even some warmth in finish from the additional ABV.

Bottle, to celebrate my 4th anniversary of joining RateBeer. Pours hazy dark copper brown with very little in the way of a head, just som off-white bubbles on the surface. Clear aroma of malt and yeast, with fruity hints and touches of caramel. Dusty and estery flavour with notes of malt and hops and touches of fruit. Mild, dusty and estery aftertaste with acidic hints. Very low carbonation. Not bad at all, just surprisingly flat.

Bottle, 6.0%. Malty aroma, syrupy and slightly fruity. Hazy dark brown colour. Small creamy white head. The flavour is malty with a weak caramelly note and a slightly spicy hoppiness. A little watery for the ABV, and also a thin mouthfeel. 7 3 7 3 15
Bottle, 6.0%. Spicy hop aroma. Deep brown colour, seems clear or slightly hazy. Small off-white head. The flavour is also spicy, quite bitter. Has a good maltiness but is not sweet at all. Also good spicy hop note in the finish. 7 3 7 3 15
