Uerige Sticke is only served twice a year: always on the third Tuesday in January and October. This beer is brewed with more malt and hops, and is much richer than Uerige Alt. Sticke with its intense and elegant aroma contains 6% abv.

The unusual name derives from olden days, when the guests would whisper (‘stickum’ being a dialect term for whispering) that the master brewer must have been a little too generous when weighing out the ingredients.

Thanks to the higher alcohol percentage, Uerige Sticke can be stored for much longer than the declared and guaranteed minimum shelf life.

Bottle. A murky brown beer with a small, dense, light beige colored head. It’s rather malty on the nose, with some dried fruits and noble hops. Grass, pepper notes and piney hints. It’s full-bodied and with a certain warmth, pleasantly carbonated and not too sticky sweet. It’s bitter, with pine cones, some orange zest just without orange if that makes any sense. Caramel maltyness, some roasted hints and a faint touch of prunes. Lasting bitter and malty finish, seemingly the bitterness wins. Sure a nice one, resembling a fine dunkel bock in many ways, but more hop focused and dried. 150131

Bottle from de Bierkoning, BB 17.12.15, large sample. Clear copper color, medium frothy light brown head. Aroma of earthy hop, caramel, slight spicy, toffee, bit molasses, slight dark bread. Soft bitterness in taste, slight sweet. Seems to be more spicy than the regular Alt, but not as dark and powerful as the Doppelsticke. Nice beer.

Bottle from bier-deluxe.de.
Dark copper to brown, clear body, with a medium, creamy, beige head.
Aroma of sweet berries, caramel, marzipan, dried fruits and roast.
Taste with about the same aromas, but less sweeter and with more roasty notes.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a medium carbonation and it finishes roasty, slightly bitter, sweet malty and slightly hoppy.

Nice! Full, but quaffable and with nice hoppy notes. The nose is quite unique for this style, while the taste is more typical for an Altbier, but a pretty beyond average one!

Dark red and brown, good head of foam that shrinks slowly. Got good lacing.

Smells hoppy, almost if not a fruity sort of hoppiness going on. Some bread.

Nice hoppy fruity taste with a backbone of bread malt. Also some light caramel malt.

Medium body, lightish co2.

Pretty easy drinker and I love the swing tops their beers come in. Worth more purchases.
