Sumatra IPA is gebrouwen in samenwerking met Brandmeester’s. Samen hebben we een IPA ontwikkeld waar we Sumatra-koffiebonen aan toe hebben gevoegd. Hierdoor ontstaat een spannende mix van fruitige Amerikaanse hop en fruitig gebrande tonen van de Sumatra Lintong. In de tijd van lange zeereizen werd het bier door de VOC naar de Oost geëxporteerd en koffie werd geïmporteerd.

From tap. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild fruity, slight grapefruity. Bitter, herbal, coffee. Lingering fruity. Toasted malty. Dry and slight herbal into the finish.

Bottle from Bierboetiek De Zythotheek, Valkenburg, Netherlands, consumed on-board Stena Britannica or Hollandica (not sure which) Captains Suite room on way home, Friday 1st July 2016, Hazy light amber the head clings to the side of the glass. Hoppy and coffee combo’ works well. Plenty of coffee here but with a really decent hoppy flurry, very nice coffee IPA. Enjoyable stuff. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7

Tap at Uiltje bar. Slight hazy golden with quite big white head. Lots of coffee beans, tropical fruits, toffee, fudge, grass. Lots of coffee but also some light fruity hops underneath. Not too sweet or bitter. Medium bodied. Very nice!

33cl bottle from trade with Douberd, many thanks! Pours slightly hazy dark orange golden colour with a huge good lasting off-white head. Aroma of fresh roasted and dry coffee beans, bitter hops. taste of fresh coffee beans, very dry, white chocolate, long bitter finish, really interesting!

Bottle from Biernavigatie, medium sample. Slight hazy orange to amber color, medium frothy head. Aroma of spicy and earthy coffee, slight fruity hop, bit dark berries. Medium bitter in taste, bit earthy from the coffee. The coffee gives a nice addition to a decent base IPA. Nice stuff.

(Draught at Jopen Proeflokaal, Amsterdam, 20 Feb 2016) Amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Malty nose with coffee, citrus, orange, grainy malt ... but mainly coffee. Malty, slightly fruity taste with citrus, orange, coffee, toast and a gentle citric bitterness in a dry finish. Medium body, quite dry. Tasty and well made, with a balanced coffee touch and a fairly low bitterness for an IPA. Quite nice.
