22 oz bottle purchased at Craft Beer Cellar, Portsmouth, NH. Dark brown or dark ruby in color, thin lasting head. Aroma is a base of caramel/ toffee malts with some floral hops.

The flavor is just as the aroma indicates, toasted grains, thicker toffee base. Bitterness comes from floral and pine notes. Medium body with some pretty noticeable alcohol tones and warming after the sip. As the temperature warms the pine resin really comes out. Solid overall but I’m not rushing out to buy more bottles.

Sample at Systembolaget. Clear copper with a slightly tan head. Aroma and taste of malt, caramel, hops, citrus, some pine and warming alcohol in the finish. Quite heavy and fairly interesting.

Keg at Pony Bar UES - NYC. Pours clear copper-gold with a creamy off-white head. Loads of pine and toasted grain in the nose, some minerals, burnt caramel. Medium sweet flavor with hearty, oily pine and grass, some lightly toasted grainy malts, touches of old berries, earth. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine to average carbonation. Warming, resinous and sticky on the finish with further grainy malts, really oily hops, strong grassy bitterness. Interesting characteristics but the drinkabilty is pretty low.

Pours dark amber into a snifter. Off white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet caramel and resin front to back.

Bottle from Mike’s Barleywine tasting, brought by Lyn, thanks for the opportunity! Labeled an imperial red ale. Huge hop pine earth and citrus nose with a bit of caramel and light toffee maltiness. Bitter resinous flavor. Big hops, nice red ipa.
