The husband of the Femme Fatale, an ‘irresistible’ lovely dark beer wherein not less than 5 kinds of malt are used. The beautiful foam lingers towards caramel with a light hint at hops. The malty flavour evolves into fine bitterness that lingers on nicely. EBC 115.

Bottle from ABC Drinks. Chocolaty, winy nose, tons of raisins, maybe figs, dried fruit, plus apples coming out later. Slightly spicy. Very rich, full nose. Dark maroon-brown with a tall, fine, pillowy head. Not nearly as sweet as expected, rather tart actually, caramel, dark chocolate, roasted malts, coffee, orange, apples. Well balanced, though not as rich as the nose leads one to believe. Tangy finish is just slightly bitter. Light and clean dubbel, it turns out, with high drinkablility but not so much depth. Still good.

Rich, slightly hazy brown coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall light brown head. Aroma of raisins, toffee, nuts, earth, malt and way more pit fruits - very nice smelling, super sweet and strong, too! Medium-bodied; Very rich plum and prune flavours with a bunch of malt, nuts, earth, pit fruits and caramel notes throughout. Aftertaste shows a subdued malt characteristic with a nice sweetness and some still pungent prune and raisin sweetness. Overall, a very nice dubbel with a lot of sweetness and some subdued earthy malt notes. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Bier Tempel in Bruxelles, Belgium on 12-August-2013 for €2,25 sampled later in the day at my hotel room here at Sainte Catherines in Bruxelles, Belgium on 12-August-2013.

Bottle. Pours dirty brown with off white head. Nose of malt, dark fruit, mixed nuts and banana peel. Taste has those elements but this off water taffy/bubblegum and potting soil note throughout. Medium body.

Bottle. Hazy light brown color, coca-cola head. Aroma of sour bubblegum and caramel. Taste is similar. Doesn’t mesh well.

25cl bottle @ home. Hazy dark brown color with a nice dark red glow coming through. Big rough off-white head. Smell malts and lightly sweet. Taste malts, some fruityness, slightly sweetish hints, but a rather bitter finish. Decent carbonation, ok body.

9/II/2012 - 33cl bottle from Dranken Geers (Oostakker) @ home - BB: 01/XII/12 (2012-114)

Clear light red brown beer, big light beige head, pretty stable, adhesive. Aroma: sweet malty, candi sugar, bit peppery, milk chocolate, some overripe banana. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: malts, caramel, bit sour, red berries, toast, bit nutty, bitter chocolate. Aftertaste: bitter with a sour touch, dark chocolate in the end. Surprised about the low ratings...

Bottled. A dark red beer with a huge light tan head. The aroma has notes of candy sugar, yeast, dried fruit, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, dusty hops, candy sugar, alcohol, dried fruits, and a bit of yeast, leading to a dry finish. The alcohol tickles the tongue lightly.
